This Privacy Policy ("Policy") informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of personal information when you use our websites, mobile applications, emails we send, or any other service where we link to this Policy (collectively our "Services"). Certain parts of our Services allow you to send direct messages to other Service users. We do not see or retain the contents of your messages in the ordinary course of providing our Services to you. Instead, your messages are stored on your device and end-to-end encrypted while in transit. This means that the contents of the messages are encrypted with a key that only you and the recipient know. There is no way for us or anybody else without direct access to your device to learn what content is being sent in those messages. We do not store your chats on our servers (except as described above), but we do maintain a log of communication (but not the content of the communication) between users.

Pixel tags are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies. To prevent phishing, spam and other kinds of abuse and violations of Element's Terms of Service, our moderators may check messages that were reported to them by their recipients. If a spam report on a message you sent is confirmed by our moderators, your account may be limited from contacting strangers – temporarily or permanently. Our Service may contain links to other websites, plug-ins and applications that are not operated by us. If you click a third party link, you will be directed to that third party's site, which may allow third parties to collect or share data about you. Our Services are not offered to users under the age of majority in the jurisdiction they are accessing the services from and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information children under the age of 18. You also have the right to object where we are processing your personal information for direct marketing purposes.
